My dude you know that explaining the rules can often require more time than the game itself right? Especially explanations designed to give any new player the ability and confidence to clear these more complicated encounters - but If you want the short version: Engage the boss > avoid his mechanics > kill the boss. Also the guide part of the video is about 9:30m long and recordings of the encounter for this video at the time ranged from 8-10 mins long so we're on the money if that's what you care about 👍

Good grief. The man does this to help us, and there are a dozen mechanics and they are complex.

Nice one. Not many people comment on the music but good to hear it's not ass. I can't even make any more music it seems because the software is not compatible with Windows 10. Though it generally seemed abandoned anyway. I hope you can make some good tracks, it's pretty fun software.

Yeah it's wild how much a ranged weapon changes the game. I'm glad I spent the time re-keybinding the hell out of the controls and then learning how to actually play with the keyboard and mouse. I would like to see elemental ammo done away with and simply have elemental damage on ranged weapons directly. There's really only like 2 HBGs worth building until the super end game and I prefer having at least a handful of different elements of a weapon built.

Yeah there are a lot of mechanics but taken one at a time they're all quite easy (except that room spin one as that catches people out a lot). To be honest this is probably the most complicated trial before the end of 6.0 so if you nail this things will be _slightly_ easier going forward.

Hey, Is that to power the kinsect with slinger ammo? I've tried it but it honestly feels ignorable. My kinsect can hold 2 extracts at once but I don't really see any tangible benefit to having it hold one of the colours I need until it gets a second, vs just delivering them one at a time. What I should do is aim better at the parts I need or go in closer to make it easier (so I spend less time without the powerups), but for these fights I'm not really trying that hard because there's no real pressure 👍

Weeelll, yeah. In fairness the boss here is quite a big deal so it might be a bit anticlimactic if it was just a basic encounter. For sure though there are a lot of mechanics which I can see being off-putting for more casual story enjoyers. The good thing is that far and beyond no one cares if you screw up and cause a couple of wipes, especially if it's your first time. If you're nervous about an encounter like that you can just drop a message in the chat and let people know you're still learning the fight. Almost everyone I've encountered either won't care at all, or will offer help. Not seen any rage myself in these.

Heya, Yeah sure I can do something like that. If you're unfamiliar with the series, Monster Hunter is generally just a basic storyline to tie progressively tougher quests (monster fights) together. There's a hub village where you can organise & craft gear and items, eat, pick up quests. In MHW you can do free exploration of the hunting zones too but most of the time you're either progressing the story to unlock stronger monsters (which will mean better gear) or you're hunting a specific monster for parts you need to craft something. For this series I just fight random monsters for fun so I generally don't need anything from them. The next time I get an opportunity to record I'll do a video to show what there is to do between hunts 👍 P.s. it's a fun game but it's pretty much all about the fighting part. I prefer solo because multiplayer is exceptionally easy, but MP is a lot of fun with friends.

@@TomScottDoesStuff I don't know it at all, and I'm looking for something to move on to, preferably MMO. The fights are interesting, but I wasn't getting any sense of connection, hence the wiki trip. You've added some personal comment which is helpful, so don't feel obliged to video the storyline/group elements unless others ask. Ppl probably view your videos for the fight strategy, as they do for other games, and I've discovered there are Beginners' Guides to the game. Some of which I can listen to. :)

No worries, and yeah for the most part Monster Hunter is quite far from something like an MMO. It _can_ be multiplayer up to 4 people total - and it is a lot of fun with friends, but playing it with random people on the internet is pretty meh and in general multiplayer makes the fights extremely easy. Like really really easy. For me it's a great single player game and while there is a little 'town' that you see me return to at the end of each quest, it's really just a hub where you can organise your items, eat, craft new gear and accept quests in. It's quite shallow in that regard. If you find a good MMO then let me know. I'm not really playing FF anymore. My wife & I picked up Elder Scrolls Online from the christmas sales but neither of us were that excited by it and it's quite unplayed in our steam libraries. It doesn't look like there's that much choice for staple MMOs at the moment :(
